THINK

I LIKE WHERE OUR LINES MEET

I like the idea that our lives are infinitesimally connected to everyone we meet, like invisible threads spanning across the globe, like yarns of threads, some tangled into knots that seem confusing by the day, stretching out across our entire hearts that we have no option than to disregard the mess that comes with trying to maneuver it all, some are so loosely bound but beautiful to the point that they leave you gasping for breath, I love the idea that our lives are connected to the point that people enter our lives at different times and would forever continue to alter the end of our stories.

The length of stay may differ but I like that an invisible thread connects you to people that shape who you become eventually I life, like somehow our individual stories are now part of each other’s. And so I have been thinking about the people I am bound to; the thread that thought me to find joy in the ordinary, the thread from high school that formed an unusual friendship between myself and adults who despite having their own issues would listen to me complain about boy troubles at 2am, the interwoven thread of kindness that strangers show to me even without having met me, the thread of gratitude felt when strangers and friends alike on the internet comment on my posts and make me feel loved, the thread that taught me to never tie my identity to other people, the awkward thread that showed me how beautiful I was even when I thought I was just one fat ugly girl, I refuse to think about so many other yarns of threads that I remain eternally grateful for, the girl who taught me about Hope and what life would be like when you lose it, and maybe its so that I could say goodbye, I like to think that our lives are intertwined that when I see a quote or I think of certain things my mind immediately flashes back to you.

If there is anything I have learnt from life it is “that no matter how hard you think about it some peoples stay can never be long enough’’ so no matter how long people stay we should learn to appreciate that in the twinkle of an eye these people whose lives are so connected with ours no matter how beautiful could be gone without a trace, we would moan and ask all the questions on earth and still never understand why they left, I like that our hearts could be seen as sand shores where people could leave their footprints in, some remain for as long as they want, some get blown away by winds of time.

Some stay only so they could help write your stories, like the beggar on the street that teach you about resilience, the old woman with wrinkles that teach you about the fickleness of beauty, the young child on the street that teaches you about the foolishness of being perfect, the strangers at the bus stop that teach you about patience, sometimes people leave before we are ready to, I don’t know why it is so but I guess we could choose the parts of them that stay with us.

So for those lessons we learn from people, both those who have impacted our lives either positively or negatively I hope you experience life in its entirety so we take in the good, the bad and every little thing in between,
Loss accompanied by strength and hope, heartaches entwined with love, a million pitfalls with one success achieved, a million words and one pair of ears that actually listen. What I know is that when you give people the chance they will surprise you, connections are formed when you put your phones down, lift your head up and actually listen. invisible threads link us to unsuspecting people in the most
beautiful of ways.

You may not get to choose who comes into
your life, when they leave, or what lesson they bring, but you do
have a say in the way you link yourself to other people in this
world.
and with all of these words, i guess i’m trying to say that i’ve
been thinking about how so many parts of my life are not mine
alone and i’m comforted by the idea that so many parts of our
lives are experienced together.

This is for letting me be a part
of your growth and Vice versa
I Definitely like where our stories meet.

P.S For Duru, May your Days make absolute sense.

For Moby, May Our Threads never untangle.

For Itimi, I love where Our lines meet, may I love you eternally.

For Annette, if there is another lifetime, you would still remain my best friend.

For You reading this, yes you I hope to read your story one day, and I definitely hope to be a part of it.

Love Suzanne.

  1. True thing Sue, our lives are intertwined with the people we let into our lives, some of those connections give us bitter experiences while some are so sweet you ask God for more of such…but like some other things in life its gotta be a mixture and not all rosy…and yes I love where some lines meet, and for a few others I keep wondering why our lines just had to meet…

    YES YES YES

  3. You see Bubba, for once i have never regretted the day that our paths crossed. Lemme just say this to you, Bubba, you are an excellent writter, and you write so deeply i could hear your heart speak. In my confused eyes Su-su, all our lives are in some way linked by threads of activities and decisions. Some we plan, others we dont, but all in all, we learn from each other

  4. Somedays i wish we all would never get to split, that we would stay together forever, but like you said Bubba, its all about salvaging the now amd making the best of it, cause on the long run: tomorrow is a gift that no body can be sure of. Bravo Bubba Bravooooo… This was an excellent read.
